Climagate incendeia cimeira de Copenhaga
Que o clima já está a mudar, ninguém tem dúvidas. As previsões estão feitas e as consequências estimadas, com um alto grau de certeza, ou seja, que em 2100 a temperatura terá aumentado 4ºC ou mais, o nível do mar subido entre 28 e 43 cm, que as ondas de calor e as tempestades tropicais serão mais intensas. Onde as opiniões se dividem, e Copenhaga vai ser o palco do grande duelo entre elas, é quanto às causas destas alterações. Enquanto uns alegam que são naturais, uma das muitas que aconteceram desde o princípio dos tempos, outros, e são o lóbi mais forte e o politicamente correcto, acreditam que são consequência do impacto humano, nomeadamente da emissão de gases com efeitos de estufa.
O facto de uns hackers terem furado as "vulnerabilidades" dos computadores do Climate Research Unit e colocado a circular na internet dezenas de e-mails secretos de cientistas da universidade de East Anglia, que apontam para a ausência da culpa humana neste aquecimento global e a total inutilidade dos sacrifícios impostos para o reduzir, irá incendiar a cimeira. O Climategate, como já é conhecido o caso, foi imediatamente aproveitado não só pelos países em vias de desenvolvimento, e que não querem entraves à sua industrialização, como também pelos países árabes, que, como principais fornecedores de petróleo, não estão interessados numa diminuição do seu consumo.
Enquanto uns e outros discutem, seguindo afinal a linha que os próprios portugueses confessam ser a sua, ou seja, de que «medidas sim, mas desde que não nos saiam da carteira», há quem, com bom senso, argumente que, independentemente dos responsáveis, é urgente mas é implementar estratégias para ajudar os países mais pobres a minorar as catástrofes que os vão assolar com cada vez mais frequência. Que a cimeira sirva pelo menos para isso.

Os países em desenvolvimento estão é comendo na mão do IPCC. Veja o caso do Brasil. Por aqui cuidaram de abafar o escândalo para proteger o IPCC. A roda da economia do aqeucimento global já passou por cima até da liberdade de expressão.

Mas, escreve mal porque os e-mail não dizem nada disto. A Universidade de East Anglia, e o Prof Jones, destruíram dados e não deveriam faze-lo.
Gostaria que me desse o nome dos cientistas com trabalhos publicados que desmentem a influência humana nas alterações climáticas. Não existem.
Há uma amplo consenso sobre as alterações climáticas, e não há lobies de uma lado e do outro, apenas uns que querem vender petróleo e outros que preferem poupar energia e viver sem carros.

SCIENTISTS at the University of East Anglia (UEA) have admitted throwing away much of the raw temperature data on which their predictions of global warming are based. It means that other academics are not able to check basic calculations said to show a long-term rise in temperature over the past 150 years.

Data: 4 Dec 2009, 12:19PM First, What are Dr Rajendra Pachauri qualifications in what science? He is a Nobel laureate in what? These days even being a terrorist get one this qualification. Nasa's James Hansen was the first to point out the perils of climate change to the US Congress I would also like to point out that the graph that Hansen originally presented to the US Senate in 1988 has, by force of time, been shown to be WRONG. Yes, the CO2 has continued to rise since 1990 but the temperature most disoblingly, has fallen. This is not surprising. When extrapolating outside the data range, such models often end up wrong. The problem is that this mistake has been converted into ?Gospel?, just like Ancel Keys ?Seven Countries Study with its selection and bias to get the right political answer. This was followed by the furore over the ?hockey stick? which was also shown, by accident and luck, to have been based on ?cherry picked? data. This in turn raises the most important aspect of ALL RESEARCH, namely the inviolate requirement that data has truth and integrity. Thus it should be available to all, unlike the hiding of data, paid for by the taxpayer, by the Met Office and the CRU. The data must be true; the interpretation of it is another matter and can rightly vary. But HIDDEN DATA cannot be challenged or the interpretation supported or debunked. Such hiding and cherry picking of data to achieve a Politically Required ANSWER discredits both the authors and science research as a whole. After 55 years in research I am disgusted at the manipulation and selection of data and its hiding. It seems to be a product of the present lack of integrity and honesty. We are unfortunately in the situation where the KOLs (Key Opinion Leaders) are fighting for their ?status, remuneration and promotion? claiming a consensus. As Einstein pointed out ?Consensus is NOT science?. Furthermore, in a statement by Max Planck which is essentially summarised by ?Science progresses FUNERAL by FUNERAL? which is a somewhat apt phrase to present day research. Now wait for it, the great big ACW/MMCW (Anthropogenic Carbon Whitewash/Man Made Carbon Whitewash) is on its way with the UN and University appointed investigations combining on CLIMATEGATE. This globe has been heating and cooling many times in the last billion+ years. So warming now OK, no problem there. Prudent use of finite resources is just prudent (not Brown?s interpretation). I was well brought up to switch lights off when not in use, to be frugal with water etc, etc.. That was in the 30s to 50s. I have always used ?economy? lighting (flourescent and modern) when ever possible; driven to get max m.p.g. long before ?green? was hijacked. But the AGW sticks in the craw; it is ?consensus? and ? consensus is not science?. I found a real true beauty the other day. It is as true today as it was then!
